Kirchner and the Berlin Street This exhibition brings together German Expressionist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's renowned Street Scenes series, created between 1913 and 1915. Considered by many to be the highpoint of Kirchner's career as a whole, this series of seven paintings is showcased with sixty related prints and drawings.

La Fiera Nazionale del Fungo Porcino di Albareto, è oggi considerata la più importante manifestazione dedicata a questo prezioso prodotto del sottobosco. La Fiera Nazionale è nata qui, perchè ad Albareto il Porcino è Storia. La nostra fiera è gemellata con la Fiera Internazionale del Tartufo Bianco d'Alba (Cuneo).

La Fiera del Tartufo, dopo il meritato riconoscimento dell'internazionalità conseguito nella scorsa edizione, apre le porte a grandi eventi che proiettano l'eccellenza enogastronomica e il prestigio del Tuber Magnatum Pico verso orizzonti sempre più ampi. Il Bianco d'Alba, rinomato in tutto il mondo, diventa dunque punto di partenza e occasione per conoscere ed apprezzare non solo i tartufi albesi, ma anche le numerose varietà di Tuber diffuse in tutti i continenti. Nascono così il White Truffle Award e Tartufi nel Mondo, due eventi dal sapore internazionale che, in un'unica giornata, raccoglieranno nelle sale del Castello di Grinzane Cavour i migliori chef e i più grandi esperti di Tartufo

This celebration dates back to the outbreak of the plague which raged in Venice as a result of the war against Austria in 1630. The Senate and Doge Nicolò Contarini decided to seek the Virgin Mary's help, vowing to build a temple in her name as soon as the scourge had ceased. In November 1631, the plague being finally over, the Government made haste to fulfil the vow. Construction began on the temple designed by the architect Baldassare Longhena. It was completed 56 years later and solemnly dedicated to the Madonna della Salute (Our Lady of Good Health).

The 65th Venice International Film Festival, organised by the Venice Biennale, will take place on the Venice Lido from 27th August to 6th September 2008. The aim of the Festival is to encourage the awareness and the promotion of all the various aspects of international cinema as art, entertainment and industry, in a spirit of freedom and tolerance. This is the first exhibition in Italy dedicated to the work of George Barbier (1882-1932), an artist, fashion illustrator and set designer who was a leading figure in the Art Deco movement. There will be 138 original illustrations from the Palazzo Mocenigo collection, together with material from the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and various private collections.

The exhibition is made up of about 40 models placed on cubes or wooden foot-boards; the flying machines are connected with a wooden framework; explanations are placed next to the machines with the drawing taken from the code which the model refers to.

Il calendario prevede una serie di prestigiosi concerti al Teatro La Fenice e in altri luoghi significativi della città, come la Collezione Peggy Guggenheim, il Teatro Fondamenta Nuove e l'Isola di San Servolo, ma anche una ricco carnet di eventi collaterali.

This is one of the most traditional festivities dating back to the year 1576 when, because of a terrible plague that was raging in the city, the Republic's Senate vowed to build a temple on the Giudecca island in honour of Christ the Redeemer, also solemnly promising to go there in procession every year on the third Sunday in July. The names of the famous architects Andrea Palladio and Antonio Da Ponte are associated with this church. This festivity is one of the most characteristic and best-loved by the Venetians. On the Saturday evening of boats decorated with branches and multicoloured balloons gather in the Giudecca Canal and in St. Mark's Basin. A large crowd throngs the brightly lit banks and palace balconies to watch this festival of sounds and lights which culminates in a great firework display that produces highly evocative plays of colour on the water. Then, amid playing and singing, the boats spread out along the city's canals to regather at dawn at the Lido to await the sunrise. On Sunday Venitian People goes to the Church of the Redeemer through the boat bridge.

The Redentore feast it is one of the most traditional festivities in Venice and it’s celebrated every year on the third Saturday of July, to remember the end of the plague in the XIV century. During this feast in Giudecca is built a votive bridge of boats that connects the island to the city, while people eat traditional venetian dishes under the stars on the fondamenta. Near San Marco and along Giudecca’s channel many illuminated boats gather all together, eating and waiting for the fireworks show at midnight. Then some boats go to the Lido to wait for the new dawn. The weekend ends with a gondola regatta and religious celebrations
